What for?
What did Mughals do to India?
- Built Taj Mahal
- Built Mosques
- Built Agra Fort, Red Fort and some others
- Built tombs to their dynasty
Some people try to glorify the Mughals by mentioning the above points, but never did they mention on what cost they did it.
- They looted the wealth of Indians.
- Demolished 1000s of temples of North India and built mosques at their locations.
- Imposed insane taxes on Non-Muslims and forced millions to forcibly convert.
- People who retaliated the conversion were brutally killed, women were raped.
- Looted the smaller kingdoms and made them weak in every aspect.
After the fall of Mughals, almost all the smaller kingdoms were economically and militarily weak. This made it easy for the Europeans to capture almost all the smaller kingdoms, united them and finally conquered whole of India. The country had suffered almost 4 centuries in the Mughal and European rule.
What exactly Mughals done to India?
- Brought Islam to India.
- They created differences among the religions by their policies and taxes. Muslims were given highest priority and all other religions were suppressed.
- Renamed most of the places.
- Prayag - Allahabad
- Karnavati - Ahmedabad
- Khadki - Aurangabad
- Anand Nagar - Ahmed Nagar
- Shyampur - Mughalsarai
- Dharashiv - Osmanabad
- Build mosque in place of Hindu temples. Almost every major important Hindu temple in UP has a mosque within.
- Ram Mandir, Ayodhya - Babri Masjid
- Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi - Gyanvapi Masjid
- Sri Krishna Janmastan Temple, Mathura - Shahi Eidgah Masjid
- Post-Independence, the Hindus tried to retaliate and the communal conflicts raised between Hindus and Muslims. It’s been 27 years and still the Ayodhya issue has not been solved.
Ayodhya Ram Mandir
Sri Krishna Janmastan, Mathura
Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi
I have been to all 3 of the above temples and I couldn’t express how pathetic the situation of these temples is.
Even after the fall of Mughals, they have a huge impact on India and the Indians. But, definitely not a positive one.
